About There4U
Built in South Africa. Designed for the people who matter most.
Our Story
There4U began with a simple observation: the people who need personal safety technology the most — elderly parents, young dependents, vulnerable family members — are often the least equipped to set it up for themselves. Every existing solution asked the wrong person to do the hard work.
We built There4U to flip that equation. The person who cares does the setup. The person who needs protection just presses a button. One tap. Instant help. That's it.
Founded in Cape Town, South Africa, There4U is a personal-safety app that delivers one-tap emergency alerts over WhatsApp — the messaging platform billions of people already use. When triggered, the app sends a personalised message containing the member's name, medical details, and live GPS location to every emergency contact on file. No fumbling. No logins. No delays.
What Makes Us Different
Most safety apps require every user to create an account, remember a password, and manage their own setup. That's fine if you're tech-savvy. It's a non-starter if you're a 78-year-old grandparent who struggles with smartphones.
There4U uses a delegated registration model. A Main Member — typically an adult child, a partner, or a parent — handles all the setup, billing, and configuration. The person they're protecting receives a WhatsApp link, taps it, and is instantly connected. No registration. No passwords. No payment details. Just safety, ready to go.
We also made a deliberate choice to deliver alerts through WhatsApp rather than building a proprietary messaging system. Your emergency contacts already check WhatsApp — an alert sent on a channel people actually use is an alert that actually works.
Our Mission
To become the default personal-safety layer for families and close-knit groups worldwide, making sure no one is ever truly unreachable when it matters.
Our Vision
A world where every person has a simple, reliable way to summon help and let the people who care about them know where they are — regardless of technical ability, location, or income level.
Our Values
Radical Simplicity
Complexity is the enemy of safety. Every design decision must reduce friction, especially for the most vulnerable users.
Privacy as a Right
We collect the minimum data necessary and give users full control over what they share. No tracking. No profiling. No selling.
Warmth Over Surveillance
There4U is about care and connection, not monitoring and control. Our brand, copy, and interactions reflect this distinction.
Global Equity
Safety technology should be accessible across markets, income levels, and payment infrastructures. We're building for everyone.
Our Journey
Built in South Africa, For the World
South Africa is our home and our launch market — a country where WhatsApp is universal, smartphones are widespread, and personal safety is something every family thinks about. The same anxieties that drive our product here — a parent living alone, a teenager walking home, a commuter on a long drive — are felt by families everywhere.
We're starting here because we know this market and its needs. But There4U is designed from the ground up for global reach, with multi-market payment support, POPIA and GDPR compliance, and a product architecture that works as well in Dublin as it does in Durban.

What It's Like Here
There4U is still early. That means you won't be joining a machine — you'll be helping build one. A few things that define how we work:
- Remote-first. We're headquartered in Cape Town, but we build for a global market and hire for talent, not geography.
- Small team, big ownership. Every person has direct impact. No layers of approval. Ship things that matter.
- Safety is the mission, not a feature. We're not building another social app. The thing we make helps people when they need it most.
- Privacy by default. We don't track what we don't need. That applies to our users and to how we run the company.
Can't wait? If you're excited about what we're building and want to reach out early, send us an email at careers@there4u.app with a bit about yourself and what you'd love to work on.

Latest
Cape Town, South Africa — 19 April 2026 — There4U, a new personal-safety app built in South Africa, today announced its founding and upcoming public launch, scheduled for Q4 2026. The app delivers one-tap emergency alerts over WhatsApp, sending a personalised message with the user's name, medical details, and live GPS location to their chosen emergency contacts — instantly.
What sets There4U apart from existing safety apps is its delegated registration model: a primary user (the "Main Member") handles all setup, billing, and configuration, while the person they're protecting — an elderly parent, a young child, a partner — simply taps a link, installs the app, and is immediately ready to call for help. No account creation. No passwords. No friction.
The app uses WhatsApp as its sole alert channel — a deliberate choice in markets like South Africa, where WhatsApp is the dominant messaging platform. Alerts are composed through the user's own WhatsApp client using deep-link pre-fill, meaning there are no per-message carrier fees and no proprietary messaging layer to learn.
There4U launches with two subscription plans tailored to the South African market: a Monthly plan at R40 and an Annual plan at R100 covering two members and up to four emergency contacts each. The Annual plan is positioned as the default for households — a parent and adult child, or a couple — at roughly R8 per month.
The company is headquartered in Cape Town, with expansion into Ireland, the UAE, Kenya, and India planned for 2027. The app is built with privacy at its core, complying with South Africa's POPIA and the EU's GDPR from day one.
There4U enters closed beta in Q3 2026 with 50–100 accounts in the South African market, followed by a public launch on the App Store and Google Play in Q4 2026.
